Het begon met een stedenband

De eerste internationale contacten tussen daltonscholen binnen Europa ontstonden rond 1996. De stedenband tussen Utrecht en Brno/CZ had tot gevolg dat in Brno de Tsjechische Dalton Vereniging werd opgericht en dat de eerste ‚Dalton Pilot Schools‘ partnerscholen in Utrecht en later in andere steden in Nederland zijn gaan zoeken.
Eén van die eerste daltonscholen uit Brno is Základní škola Horácké Námestí.
Op dit moment heeft deze school als partnerschool Lentiz Dalton Mavo & het Groene Lyceum uit Naaldwijk. Beide scholen wisselen inmiddels leerlingen uit.

Our trip to Holland
At the beginning of December we went to Holland. We took an airplane. We arrived at the airport in Eindhoven and then we took the bus to Naaldwijk where we met students from Holland for the first time. They said hello to us as well as teachers told us some information about our week in Holland. Then we went to our families with our matches. Every day we had a perfect programme. We rode a bike to school. Students from Holland showed us their school. They had a big, nice and an amazing school. One day we cooked a tomato soup which is typical for Holland. We visited also Flora Holland. It is the building where flower auctions are. Another day we went to greenhouses, because dad of one Dutch girl was owner. The next day we saw water barriers which protect Holland against floods. We visited also a lot of beautiful cities, for example: Haag, Rotterdam, Amsterdam,… In Rotterdam we were sailing on the pancake boat. That is boat where you can eat pancakes with salt or sweet ingredients. The whole week we finished with ice skating. After a week the last day came. We said goodbye to our new friends and their parents. Some of us were crying, because it was really nice and beautiful week with nice guys and teachers.
